IgniteU NY at Career Jam!

IgniteU NY, powered by New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation (NYSTEC), played a role in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world career exploration for

thousands of students in New York State’s Capital Region. We were honored to contribute to the vital mission of workforce development and helping young minds envision diverse professional pathways.

On October 8 The IgniteU NY team partnered with Career Jam Explore at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC). Over 2,000 8th and 9th graders were in attendance.

2025 Fall Semester

We’re officially past the halfway point of the Fall 2025 IgniteU Fellowship!

This semester, 21 students are fully immersed within their assigned partner companies. They are tackling projects that address real business challenges across New York State, spanning industries from technology to sustainability. Our Fellows are applying design thinking skills, and more, to understand business problems and come up with solution-based recommendations.

In addition to their project work, Fellows participate in a weekly class focused on design thinking principles and professional skill development, which strengthens their growth and workforce readiness.

We’ve been inspired by the creativity and collaboration seen so far from our Fellows and are looking forward to the final presentations later this semester as teams share their findings and recommendations!

NYATEP Conference

At IgniteU NY we know building a stronger workforce means building stronger communities. This week’s New York Association for Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP) Workforce and Economic Development Conference brought together leaders, innovators, and changemakers from across New York State, who share that same vision.

Through visionary keynotes, collaborative workshops, and dynamic conversations, we deepened our collective understanding of what it takes to sustain equitable, high-impact workforce systems. We left informed and motivated to continue advancing opportunities for New Yorkers through partnership and innovation.

FuzeHub Innovation Summit

gniteU NY attended the FuzeHub Innovation Summit last week. Innovators, manufacturers, and ecosystem builders from across New York State came together to showcase advancements in technology, forge new partnerships, and strengthen the future of our state’s innovation economy.

From deep dives into cutting-edge manufacturing solutions to connecting with leaders in workforce development, entrepreneurship and tech transfer, the Summit reinforced just how powerful collaboration can be when it comes to driving real impact across industries and regions.

We left feeling energized by the conversations, inspired by the ideas shared, and excited to continue building on this momentum to support New York’s thriving innovation ecosystem.

Big thanks to the FuzeHub team for consistently creating such an impactful space for thought leadership, creativity, and connection.

STEAM Session

This fall the IgniteU NY STEAM sessions gave high school students from Redemption Christian Academy and Berlin the opportunity to dive into the basics of civil engineering. Students explored how bridges are designed and built for balance, strength, structure, and creativity. Students applied what they learned and built model bridges, which will be tested for strength in our next class!

Students also participated in a STEAM session on career pathways. This session took place on September 30 with Berlin High School and on November 3 with RCA. Students explored how different subjects connect to real-world opportunities and discovered new interests through interactive stations.
